Dating

Comoros is an island-state in the Indian Ocean nestled between Mozambique and Madagascar. The country’s territory is made up of three islands; Grande Comore, Mohéli and Anjouan. The status of the fourth island of Mayotte is still unsettled as both Comoros and France lay claim to it. It is currently being administered by France. The capital and largest city in Comoros is Moroni, found in the largest of the three islands, Grande Comore. The religion of the majority of the population and the official state religion is Islam. At 1,660 square kilometers, excluding the contested island of Mayotte, Comoros is the fourth-smallest African nation by area. The population is estimated at 832,322. As a nation formed at a crossroads of different civilizations, the archipelago is noted for its diverse culture and history.

Dating Comorian girls is fun and something that you will enjoy. The girls are well-behaved and loyal. Because of Islam traditions, these girls are brought up being taught how to take care of their men. Most of these girls are very polite and submissive to their husbands. You just need to remember that Comoros is a conservative society and some girls may be afraid of being seen in public with a man who is not their husband.

Dating Culture

Just as is the case in most Islam countries, the dating culture in Comoros is reserved. With an almost entire population made up of Muslims, Islamic law is one of the three sets of laws that govern the lives of Comorians. Even though the location of Comoros exposes it to different cultures, the prevailing Islamic law has resulted in the country having a conservative approach to matters of dating. According to Islamic law, it is improper for a woman to be seen in public with an unrelated male. This limits the number of chances a girl can give to men to take her out on dates. However, many young Comorians are shunning this law and do not mind being seen in public with men.

Women

While many Arab countries are often considered unfriendly to women, Comoros is considered to be one of the exceptions to this norm. This is contrary to what would be expected of a country that has been through countless periods of unrest.

Comoros' constitution, which states that citizens will draw governing principles and rules from Islamic tenets, also refers to citizens' equal rights and duties regardless of sex. Comoros has ratified the U.N. Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, sometimes called the world’s “bill of rights” for women. It is one of only three Arab League states to do so without any reservations. It has also ratified the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights.

Lands and homes are usually awarded to women in case of divorce or separation in Comoros. This is a deviation from what happens elsewhere as in most cases, the husband holds the right to all property. The Comorian Family law also states that women may marry and stay in the homes built for them by their parents, over which the husband may not have any rights. The furniture remains attached to this home, even if purchased by the husband.

Another indicator of the relative privilege of women in Comoros is the fact that half the inmates in Moroni's prisons are being held for sex crimes, a proportion that suggests Comoros has enforced laws against sexual violence. Women make up almost 40% of the labor force in the country, a figure slightly above average for sub-Saharan Africa. In the last government, women were installed as minister of telecommunications and labor minister. This represented 20 percent of Comoros' total ministerial positions, a higher proportion than in any of the other 21 polled Arab states. In addition to this, women are beginning to make their entrance in high, decision-making positions. The state prosecution, the Great Mutual Funds of Comoros, the Postal Bank and the General Planning Commission are all headed by women.

Although Comoros remains one of the poorest countries in the world, they are far more advanced when it comes to understanding the importance of women and a good education. However, girls are somewhat less likely than boys to attend school in Comoros. The World Bank estimated in 2010 that 70.6 percent of girls were enrolled in primary schools, whereas 80.5 percent of boys were enrolled. In secondary school, 15 percent of eligible Comorian girls were in attendance, in comparison with about 19 percent of eligible boys.

Despite their lower economic status, women in Comoros who are married to farmers or laborers often move about more freely than their counterparts among the social elite, managing market stands or working in the fields. On Mwali, where traditional Islamic values are less dominant, women generally are not as strictly secluded.

Comoran Girls (age 18 - 29)

Although the law prescribes 18 years to be the minimum legal age for marriage in Comoros, 32% of girls are married before the age of 18 and 9% are married before their 15th birthday. Some of the reasons for this are: Girls are often married off to attract bride price and lift their families out of poverty. Some are married simply because their parents do not want them to engage in premarital sex; and the overlap between Islam laws, customary law and civil law. This situation is also compounded by the fact that many girls do not go beyond primary school. Those girls who are lucky will go beyond primary school and complete high school.

As the girls transition from childhood to adulthood, they undergo a physical transformation in their bodies. What was before small lumps on the chest, grow on to become soft succulent and round breasts. Comorian women are naturally endowed in this area and you will start seeing the ladies consciously making them visible. The bum and hips also expand significantly. The facial complexion also changes resulting in naturally beautiful faces.

As they discover their sexuality, the girls will start investing in their looks. Those in rural areas tend to dress in traditional Muslim hijabs and burkas. Those in the urban areas are more liberal and some of them will be seen in tight-fitting clothes that accentuate their body-figures. The girls will also use cheap perfumes and other cosmetics to enhance their looks.

The girls in urban areas are more outgoing than rural ones. The girls can be easy to hook up with as most of them are savoring the new freedom caused by moving out of their parents' homes. For most girls, this is the age at which they get married.

Comorian Women (age 30 - 45)

This is what can be considered to be the prime age as the women are not at their peak in all aspects of growth. By now, their bodies are fully developed although some may still be experiencing growth in their erogenous areas.

Because these women are more financially stable, they can purchase pricier hence better clothes than when they were young. Those who are still single or the liberal ones will still be inclined to put on tight clothes that enhance their features. The married ones dress more conservatively. These women are also able to purchase better fashion accessories, jewelry and beauty products which they put both at work and when they go out.

Those who had not married earlier get married and settle down in their families. As they do so, they strive to maintain a balance between the family and their careers and social lives. Many people lose friends at this time as they are unable to find time to catch up as was the case earlier in life. It is also at this time that many women make choices in their careers before settling down to pursue what they want and this will affect how they spend their time.

Apart from the married ones, women at this age are easy to hook up with. This is because of the urge to settle down which makes them more outgoing and receptive to approaches by men. Hooking up with these women is easy and good as they are generally more mature than their younger peers and so they have an understanding of what a relationship entails.

Comoran Ladies (age 45+)

Age is catching up with most women and their feature will be slowly losing shape. The breasts and bum will no longer be as supple as when they were younger. However, some of the women here can afford the most luxurious beauty enhancement products that they will use to slow the deteriorating brought by age.

For those lucky women in formal employment, they will have risen through the ranks in their organizations and some may be in senior positions while others may be employers in their own right. Even the unmarried ones will be rich enough to have some property of their own such as houses and cars.

Age and experience will have made these women very mature especially in matters of relationships. These older women are mature enough to know what they want from a relationship and they will not hold back from stating it. Even though they may have lost some of their beauty and charm with age, these women know how to treat men and you can be sure of a good time with her.

Foreign Girls (tourists, expats, students, etc.)

Although Comoros has many natural resources for tourism, such as its beaches and marine environment, it does not have a strong tourist industry as its regional competitors Réunion, Mauritius, and Seychelles. Its weak tourist industry is mainly because of its insecure political climate, with many political upheavals over the past three decades. However, things are slowly changing as the political situation in the country has stabilized. More tourists are coming into the country even as the country sets up mechanisms to market the country as a tourist destination.

Another group of girls that you will find in Comoros is expatriates and investors. The government is putting in place a legal framework designed to attract foreign investment in agriculture, fishing and especially tourism, an industry with much potential in this largely unspoiled group of tropical islands. Also, the Economic Citizenship Programme, which enables foreign investors to obtain Comorian citizenship in return for a commitment to invest in the country.

Sex

As you would expect in Muslim countries, sex with Comorian girls is relatively harder than in non-Muslim countries. In Islam, virginity is treasured and a girl who gets married while still a virgin attracts a higher bride-price. Many girls, especially the rural ones, endeavor to preserve their virginity till they get married. However, those in urban areas are less apprehensive and with enough persuasion, they can give in to having sex. However, the conservative nature of the country means that even those who will give in will do so with discretion.

Sex Culture

More than 99% of the population of Comoros is made up of Muslims. With Islam as the official religion, Islamic law is applied widely alongside customary law and legal codes inherited from the French. This law has resulted in a less vibrant sex culture as a public display of affection or people of opposite gender hanging out together, is frowned upon. In the urban areas, this is slowly changing as more and more Comorians are opening up to western culture.

One-Night Stands

Given its conservative nature, one-night stands are less common here as compared to other countries. Where it happens, the young Comorians use technology such as online dating websites and applications to set up these dates.

Best Places to Meet Single Girls

As mentioned, the island nation Comoros is one of the smallest countries in Africa. Although the country has beautiful beaches and lovely countryside, the country went through years of neglect that resulted in the deterioration of the infrastructure. Comoros has the dubious distinction of having the most coups in Africa. Since the country got independence from France in 1975, there have been 20 recorded successful and failed coup attempts. Having left this period behind, the country is slowly picking up.

Bars, Pubs and Nightclubs

Comoros is a country with a wide range of night-time entertainment to suit everyone's taste. It is possible to dine in a fine restaurant in Moroni or relax after a hard day in one of the nightclubs in Moroni:

  • Club des Ami
  • Le Rue France

Shopping Malls

Malls offer consumers the convenience of doing all their shopping in one place. With recreational facilities and retail areas, malls attract many young Comorian girls who want to look trendy and hook up with friends.

Some of the malls in Comoros include:

  • Place Chindoni, Koimbani
  • Douca la mamaYAHAYA, Moroni

Outdoors

The grandeur of Comoros' natural attractions is enough to make you want to stay for a few days. Its shores are laden with fine sand and fringed by palm trees, typical of an untouched beach paradise with unrivaled opportunities to see diverse sea life. Inland are quaint towns and cultural discoveries, plus beautiful mountains, lakes and vegetation that unfold each step of the way. From stunning rock formations shaped and reshaped by the volcanic Mount Karthala to the diving bays, laid back villages, and the distinct Arabian glamor of Moroni, Comoros will never run out of pleasant surprises.

The largest active volcano in the world is Mount Karthala located on Grande Comore. It stands at just over 2300 meters and has consistently erupted every 11 years since the beginning of the 19th century. The last eruption was in 2005 and lasted 14 days! The volcano did quite a bit of damage in 2005, but the country has recovered nicely. You'll love the bizarre yet spectacular landscape that the lava creates and it makes the hiking rather unique. You can climb to the volcano's rim, but be warned, it's a difficult two-day trek.

Mohéli is the smallest of the four main islands in the Comoros archipelago. It offers an interesting array of attractions, including the crater-lake and the quaint fishing village of Fomboni. The locals have preserved a tradition of hand-built sailboats, and outsiders can freely observe Arab ships being constructed right on the shore. Mohéli Marine Park is located just off the island's southern coast and is best known for its population of green turtles and spectacular coral reefs. Niumashuwa Bay is a fine diving spot and a good starting point for visiting the marine park.

The capital of Comoros is Moroni, located on Grande Comore Island. There's a romantic and distinctly Arabian vibe here and you'll feel like you're in a different world compared to the rest of the islands. The narrow streets are filled with quaint shops and cafes and the locals wear traditional dress. Enjoy the Volvo Market and pick up some great souvenirs, spices, and handicrafts from local artisans. Check out the medina near the Friday Mosque and get lost in the winding alleyways. Like the rest of Comoros, there aren't a lot of traditional tourist attractions, but the beauty always more than makes up for it.

Mayotte is probably the most traditional tourist spot in Comoros. Still governed by the French, many think that the island is overpriced and out of sync with the remote paradise vibe the rest of the island has. But you'll find unbelievable turquoise waters, white sand, and top-shelf snorkeling, sailing, and diving here. Not surprisingly, there’s a large ex-pat community here and there’s a bit of tension between the Mahorais and the other islanders, but thanks to French rule, there’s a great deal of stability and infrastructure here.

Petite Terre is where you’ll find most of the ex-pats in Comoros. The island has two villages: L’Abattoir and Pamandzi. You can visit the volcanic crater of Dziani Dzaha, the rock of Dzaoudzi (a less dramatic version of the Rock of Gibraltar), and the archaeological site known as Bagamoyo, where artifacts from a 10th century Shirazi settlement continue to be discovered. It’s a bit high end for budget backpackers, but if you’re able to splurge, you can’t go wrong with the amazing French cuisine that you’ll find on the island – think crab and frog legs! Mamoudzou is where you’ll find the restaurants, businesses, and shopping on Mayotte. It’s a large town and many areas are neglected, but this is still the best place for shopping and eating on the island.

The highest mountain on Anjouan is Mt Ntingui. It stands at almost 1600 meters and it’s a challenging trek to the top. Because of the weather, the peak is often cloud covered, but if you’re one of the lucky ones, and the cloud clears, you’ll get a phenomenal view of the four islands in the archipelago. To reach the top you’ll hike through lush green forest and have a chance to spot some of the exotic bird species here.

Another must-see attraction, Dziani Boundouni is a beautiful sulfur crater-lake situated right in the heart of the island of Mohéli. It is a pleasurable walk from the capital town of Fomboni, which is also known for its beautiful beaches.

Universities and Colleges

Before 2000, students seeking a university education had to attend school outside of the country, however, in the early 2000s, a university was created in the country. This served to help economic growth and to fight the flight of many educated people who were not returning to the islands to work. The University of Comoros is the only university in the country.

Relationship

Relationships in Comoros are similar to what happens in other Muslim African countries. Islam is the official religion practiced by 99% of the population. Islamic law has a huge bearing on the daily life of the Comorians including relationships. In most conservative setups, especially in the rural areas, it is wrong for a girl to be seen in public with a man who is not their relative or spouse. In these areas, casual relationships are not very common as relationships are viewed as a passage towards marriage meaning that many conservative Comorians get into relationships with the hope that it will end up in marriage.

However, things are slightly different in urban areas. Many young Comorians are getting in and out of relationships without thinking of marriage. To them, relationships are part of life and the more you get into, the more fun it shall be. Due to the underdeveloped education system in the country, many Comorians go abroad to pursue a university education, especially in France and Madagascar. As they come back into the country, they bring with them the culture of casual dating. Even with this transformation, you need to remember that the country is generally conservative and many locals especially girls may be hesitant to be seen in public with a man who is no their spouse.

Holiday Romance

We work hard every year with the hope that we will be able to take time to relax and to explore life outside our work environment. This time comes in the form of the holidays. Whether it is during the festive season or other traditional holiday periods or we want to create our holiday moments, this is time that we all look forward. World-systems create a tedious repetitive cycle that guides our adult life. Once someone gets a job, their life becomes a routine of moving from home to work every weekday morning and getting back home every evening. The weekends are used to do any pending house chores and for some, do side hustle. This trend becomes stricter once children come along.

While holiday romances can be accompanied by a relaxed atmosphere, Comoros is a Muslim country and so some behaviors like public display of affection may not be allowed in public. Same-sex relationships are illegal in Comoros and they attract arrest.

Tips for Successful Relationship

Over time, we assume that our partner knows us so well that we don't need to ask for what we want. What happens when we make this assumption? Expectations are set, and just as quickly, they get deflated. Those unmet expectations can leave us questioning the viability of our partnership and connection. Keep in mind that "asking for what you want" extends to everything from emotional to sexual wants.

Create a weekly ritual to check in with each other. This can be short or long, but it begins by asking each other what worked and didn't work about the previous week and what can be done to improve things this coming week. Additionally, use this opportunity to get on the same page with your schedules, plan a date night, and talk about what you would like to see happen in the coming days, weeks, and months in your relationship.

Unless you have committed to an asexual partnership, sex and touch such as kissing, holding hands, and cuddling are vital components of a romantic relationship. How much sex a couple has is, of course, up to the particular pair of individuals, so you must discuss your ideas about it to manage any desire discrepancy.

Life and work distractions can become paramount in our minds, and that leaves little time or energy for our partner. Barring any emergencies or deadlines, we should be fully present when we are with our mate. We truly hear what they are saying (instead of pretending to listen), we leave our distractions behind, and we don't pick them up again until the sun comes up and we walk out the door.

When conflicts inevitably come up, remember to approach them thoughtfully and with a lot of kindness toward your partner and yourself. If you see the stress beginning to escalate during a conversation about a conflict, one or both of you can call a break so that cooler heads can prevail.

In most disagreements, we communicate from the obvious emotions such as anger, annoyance, and the like. Leading from this place can create confusion and defensiveness, and it can ultimately distract from the real issue. Start communicating from the bottom layer which is the feelings that are driving your reactions, such as disappointment, rejection, loneliness, or disrespect.

Conversations quickly turn to arguments when we're invested in hearing our partner admit that we were right or when we are intent on changing their opinion. Choose to approach a conversation as an opportunity to understand your significant other's perspective as opposed to waiting for them to concede. From this perspective, you will have an interesting dialogue and prevent a blowout or lingering frustration.

It's well understood that apologizing is a good thing, but it only makes a real impact when you mean it. Saying things like "I'm sorry you feel that way," "I'm sorry you see it that way," or "I'm sorry if I upset you" are a waste of time and breath. Even if you don't agree that your action was wrong, you will never successfully argue a feeling.

Any issues you avoid, or truths you don’t want to acknowledge, will likely undermine your relationship. It’s better to face the truth squarely in the face right now and address it, rather than let it sabotage your relationship in the long run. Be intentional and figure out the truth about your relationship. Think through all aspects of it—your feelings and thoughts, the other person’s feelings and thoughts, as well as their external context.

Love

If there is one characteristic that separates human beings from other living beings is the ability and desire to love. Every human being is born with the ability to show love not only to the people one is born with such as family but with someone else whom we meet along the way. It is this ability that makes human beings start families as compared to other animals which mostly procreate without any feelings attached. A human being will sire another human and will continue to recognize and treat them as their child however old the child grows. This is in contrast to other animals that only bring their children up to the point where they can take care of themselves.

It is mysterious how we meet someone from an entirely different background or even nationality and our mutual feelings grow to a point where we always want to be with them. Apart from some cultures that allow relatives to marry one another, we will always get married to someone who was at one time a stranger. While two animals will meet and procreate and soon drift away, two human beings in love will continue to have those feelings towards each other for a long time even if they were to go their separate ways.

Even with Islam as the predominant religion in Comoros, the people of the country are outgoing and fun-loving. Also, the hospitality and polite nature of Comorians makes it easier to approach and talk to Comorian girls. As soon as you arrive in Comoros, you’re met with nothing but smiles from the local people. The official language of Comoros is French, and most Comorians are at least bilingual.

How to Make Sure She Is the One

A healthy, stable relationship focuses on giving rather than taking. Seeing your significant other happy should make you just as happy, and she should treat you in the same way. Your joy should be her joy, too—it can be as simple as asking about your day or looking after you when you are sick. As time passes, the excitement at the beginning of the relationship will pass, but you should both be just as focused on giving each other happiness.

If you want to spend the rest of your life with someone, you must find that person intellectually challenging. Looks are fleeting but personality is forever—your conversations together should be interesting, insightful and full of depth. Your partner should be able to challenge your opinions, opening up your mind to new ideas and concepts.

An ideal wife is someone who will do good things, not just because other men's wives do them too, but because they are the right things to do. She surpasses other women, not because she competes with them, but because she competes with herself and tries to improve every day a little bit more.

Before marrying a woman, you must be sure that she will always support you in any situation, especially in the presence of other people. If she is very considerate, then you won’t have to worry that she somehow will disgrace you. For example, a tactless woman may make a toxic comment to your relatives or may comment on your shortcomings in front of the guests. It doesn’t mean that she should always agree with you. She just has to know how to gently tell you about your problems.

There is a big difference between a wish and the ability to have children. If your girlfriend shows that she likes children and maybe even persuaded you to have a pet, then you know that her mother's instincts are active. For your children, this means that if you marry her, they will have a nice mother and a happy and healthy family. Look at her reaction when you start talking about children, she may feel afraid, but never disgusted.

In addition to supporting and encouraging you to pursue your own goals and dreams, she will have her own as well. A mature woman has a vision for her future and chases after it with voracity. A mature woman will be someone you can take on the world with. She will be your partner in crime, a teammate in your relationship, and life.

Being consistent is a valuable virtue because it lets your partner know that you are who you are. You haven't sent your "representative" to get to know them during the first couple of months of dating, but then suddenly transform once they've committed themselves to you. Consistency is the opposite of volatility. If someone is unpredictable and volatile, it’s difficult to know how they will be acting towards you on a certain day, and that gets old no matter how aesthetically pleasing she is.

Marriage

According to Family Code 2005, 18 years is the legal minimum age of marriage. However, they can marry before the age of 18 with judicial consent. However, 32% of girls in Comoros are married before their 18th birthday and 10% are married before the age of 15.

Wedding

There are two types of legal unions in Comoros - the small wedding ceremony and the grand one. The ordinary wedding is an intimate gathering and one which has to satisfy the appetite for celebration until the married couple decides it is time for - or they can afford - the grand marriage.

Each island, region and town in Comoros conducts the Grand Marriage in a slightly different way, but all feature a rich and ornate tapestry of symbolic rituals, evoking different elements of the island’s complicated history as a maritime trading nation.

Such weddings are not only for show and pride. They also play a key role in both the local economy and the social order. In the main island of Grande Comore, a man who has not had a Grand Marriage will find himself effectively blocked out of political power. Those who cannot afford to have a Grand Marriage are not permitted to sit in the front row of the mosque or wear certain items of clothing. They are cut out of local decision-making and are not considered to be fully adult in the same way as those who have had a Grand Marriage.

Gifts worth thousands of dollars are exchanged between the two families. So much wealth changes hands during a Grand Marriage that whole industries are supported, from farmers and food processors to jewelers and musicians.

The tradition of Grand Marriage also affects the balance between men and women. The bride typically receives so much jewelry from the family of the groom that she can enjoy a certain level of financial independence. This is especially true given that Comoros has a matrilocal system of the residence, rare in Islamic cultures, whereby the groom will move into the home of his bride, not the other way around.

This leaves the wife with her property and valuable assets, usually in the form of gold, and goes some way to explaining why Comoros ranked first in a recent survey to establish the status of women in Islamic countries around the world.

On the 10th night of the wedding, the groom's family makes final preparations before departing for the home of his bride. Dressed in full traditional attire, with a long, curved sword strapped to his hip and a veil covering his face, the groom climbs into a throne decorated with colored lights and held aloft by four bearers. To the beat of drums, the procession of about 200 people set off, chanting, singing, and occasionally throwing grains of rice at the throne to ward off evil.

After eventually arriving at his bride’s house, the groom joins the bride in the bedroom, where his mother-in-law washes his feet, and the couple handed mouthfuls of food, as per the custom, before finally sharing a kiss.

Family Life

A family is an important unit of social life in Comoros. It is male-dominant and is sustained mainly through the extended family system. The patriarchal structure of the family and family's influence and role in the fabric of society is gradually changing to ways that are inconsistent with its traditional role. The broader sociopolitical and economic environments provide the contexts for understanding these changes in Comoros.

The traditional extended family is the most common type of family unit structure in Comoros and is a unit that can help to foster good or bad family relationships. It plays a central role in Comorian society and it is perceived as a status symbol to support a large family and have more than one wife. Traditionally Comorian families tend to be large and three generations may live together in one household with each having different roles. The average household size is about 8.5 members per household.

Being a patrilineal society the father is normally head of the family, though the role and responsibilities of the running of the household are left to the wife. The times when most family members living outside the household meet at one time is usually at naming ceremonies, funerals, and weddings. At these events, different members have different roles to play as there would be an immediate hierarchy based on age, religious learning and status through birth and lineage. Respect to elders is vitally important in developing good relationships in particular greetings, showing due respect and listening to advise.

In some areas, the mother becomes the temporary head of the family due to many men moving to Madagascar and France to look for jobs.
