Women

The status of women in Mexico has changed significantly over time. Until the twentieth century, Mexico was an overwhelmingly rural country, with rural women's status defined within the context of the family and the local community. With urbanization beginning in the sixteenth century, following the Spanish conquest of the Aztec empire, cities have provided economic and social opportunities not possible within rural villages. Roman Catholicism in Mexico has shaped societal attitudes about women's social role, emphasizing the role of women as nurturers of the family, with the Virgin Mary as a model.

There are persistent inequalities between levels of sexual experience between females and males. In a recent national survey of Mexican youth, 22% of men and 11% of women of the age of 16 had admitted to having experienced sexual intercourse. However, these rates for both men and women remain fairly low due to the cultural perception that it is inappropriate to engage in intercourse before marriage. This shared cultural belief stems from the traditional teachings of the Catholic Church which have had great influence over Latin American cultures.

Mexican Girls (age 18 - 29)

Because of the strong religious upbringing for most Mexican girls, most of them will only get into a relationship if they are sure that it will lead to marriage. For the Muslims, their religion forbids young girls frolicking with men unless they are married to them or are planning to get married to them. Christian teachings, especially the emergent charismatic churches, also frown upon such behavior. This, coupled with the strict upbringing that parents applying to the girls has greatly reduced the interactions. It is not strange to approach a girl in Mexico and have her tell you that she will only talk to you if you are looking for a serious relationship.

Most Mexican girls are known to be very well-endowed. The girls have some of the biggest bums in the world. While they dress relatively modestly, their bums and breast are prominent features in their bodies. For the liberal ones, they dress in knee-length skirt suits or dresses whereas some wear long tight pants. One common mode of dressing for Mexican ladies is low-cut blouses which expose their cleavage. This brings out their voluptuous breasts.

Mexican Women (age 30 - 45)

Most women of this age are married usually or will get married before getting to 45. Upon getting married, some women get pregnant immediately and get down to taking care of their babies. Some, however, get married and opt to continue building their careers before getting to motherhood. Despite this, some Mexican women will withstand the pressure and remain single concentrating on their careers. A few options to get pregnant by sperm donors and remain single even as they become mothers.

As the women grow older, they tend to change their dress code and cover up more. This means that the amount of skin they expose is greatly reduced. For the women in formal employment, the length of the dresses and skirts increases downwards while the trouser pants become looser. The neckline also moves up as they now become mothers. This does not mean that they become less attentive to their appearance, rather they move from risqué to classy. The women in this age bracket can finance their lifestyle and so they dress and accessorize more expensively.

Mexican Ladies (age 45+)

With 30 years being the prime age for Mexican women to get married, it follows that most women aged above 45 years are usually married with children, some adults. In Mexico, it is assumed that if by this age you will not have gotten married, something is wrong with you. Everywhere you go, you will be asked if you have a problem.

What these women will be lacking in their social life, they will make up for in their careers. As a result of this, single women at this age may make big progress in their careers. For those who opt to pursue further education, they will most likely have attained a doctorate. Those who ventured into employment and enterprise, will at this time made enough money to acquire property while some will have opted to join politics. Whereas younger women may still be seeking financial stability, most women here are financially and socially independent.

In terms of appearance, the women are still well-built though as they grow beyond 55 years, age begins showing. Those who can conceal these signs using expensive beauty products do so although others let the age show. The age at which they are, also makes them dress more maturely. Most of them dump the tighter clothes altogether and choose more loosely-fitting clothes. They don expensive jewelry and designer cosmetics. It is at this age that women acquire the tribal ceremonial outfits which Mexican women are known for and which range from tribe to tribe.

Some of the women favor the younger energetic men for the occasional fling. The younger men are only sought when they are needed and compensated with money. However, some women end up staying with the younger men in their posh homes as they attend to their carnal needs.

Foreign Girls (tourists, expats, students, etc.)

Mexico is ranked as the sixth-most visited country in the world for tourism activities. Mexico has a significant number of UNESCO World Heritage sites with the list including ancient ruins, colonial cities, and natural reserves, as well as several works of modern public and private architecture. Mexico has attracted foreign visitors beginning in the early nineteenth century, cultural festivals, colonial cities, nature reserves and the beach resorts.

In addition to tourists, some of the foreign girls in the city are immigrants who have come to live in the country. It is estimated that almost 1.5 million foreigners have settled in the country. The vast majority of migrants come from the United States, making Mexico the top destination for U.S. citizens abroad. The second largest group comes from neighboring Guatemala, followed by Spain. Other major sources of migration are fellow Latin American countries, which include Colombia, Argentina and Cuba.

Sex

Religion plays a central life in the lives of many Mexicans. Both Christianity and Islam are against engaging in premarital sex. This has resulted in fewer girls engaging in sex before marriage. This has however changed recently with the proliferation of western culture into the lives of Mexicans. This has opened up more Mexican girls to casual sex.

While parents and other guardians may have control over girls while they are still growing up and living under their roofs, they lose this as soon as the girls finish secondary school and go away to universities and colleges. You are more likely to have sex with a Mexican girl who is in college than when they still live with their parents. This likelihood grows as the girls finish their education and begin being independent.

Sex Culture

For a long time, the matter of sex was too touchy and rarely was it discussed especially between parents and their children. Quite often, the young girls learned about their sexuality in their biology classes and from interactions with their peers. They would later come to experience it on their own when they grew up and got married.

Mexico has one of the most vibrant film industries in the world. Every year, the industry churns out many soap operas. These movies have a great impact on the culture and lives of the Mexicans.

One-Night Stands

Despite the strong religious and cultural morals that guide daily lives, there are many opportunities for one night stands in Monterrey. Mexican girls are notorious party animals and one only needs to show up in an entertainment joint and buy drinks for a girl and she will be ready to entertain you for the night. Indeed there are several clubs in Monterrey that are known as hangouts for single ladies who will be willing to go for a one night stand with you.

Your chances of this happening are greatly enhanced if it is known that you are a tourist as many young girls have a sense of curiosity and would readily spend the night with you just to know how it feels to have sex with a foreigner.

However, the government has been on a campaign to discourage this practice due to the risks involved such as venereal diseases.

Outdoors

A vast expanse, the Macroplaza is situated slap bang in the center of Monterrey. One of its most eye-catching features is undoubtedly the towering orange Faro del Comercio, a slim orange structure designed by Luis Barragán. To one side, there’s the aforementioned MARCO modern art museum, as well as the beautiful cathedral. Head to the top end of the Macroplaza and you have the Museo del Palacio.

Admire the views over the impressively vast expanse of urbanity Monterrey has to offer from the Mirador Asta Bandera, which features an enormous flag. A fairly easy climb, locals will point you in the right direction to reach this Monterrey landmark. On your way back down, drop into the Palacio del Obispado. A pleasingly yellow building, it features a selection of well laid out and fascinating displays about Monterrey’s history.

Monterrey is known for being surrounded by mountains, and it is one of the most appealing aspects of the city. The most famous peak is Cerro de la Silla, and while you can get a good view of it from the Obispado’s Mirador, it's worth taking some time to admire in its own right. Named for the saddle-like shape of its double peaks, Pico Norte and Pico la Virgen, you can even climb it.

Most university buildings are known for being, for want of a better way of putting it, ugly as sin. However, TEC de Monterrey’s Eugenio Garza Sada campus is a different kettle of fish altogether; in fact, it’s instantly recognizable for its pair of square building brick buildings that look like they fell from the sky. As well as being visually pleasing, it also ranks highly in global university league tables and is one of Mexico’s top higher learning institutions.

Gleaming white pathways guide you down the length of this artificial and impressively teal-colored 'river'. Water features and bridges are spotted along the length of Paseo Santa Lucía, as are rose-selling vendors. Unsurprisingly, this is a popular spot for couples to take a romantic stroll or even just lounge on the grass. Alternatively, you can board a small boat that will take you up and down the length of the river and give you a chance to leisurely admire the views.

Easily the best part of Monterrey, which is an overwhelmingly urban space, Parque Fundidora perfectly, combines the city’s industrial history with open green areas. Dotted with striking steel structures, including the brutal but strangely beautiful Horno 3, this is a vast expanse of a park.

For a day trip outside the center, Las Grutas de García also makes a great choice. Easily accessible via public transport, ticket vendors are always dotted about La Alameda. Once there, the tour itself lasts about 40 minutes and shows you around some of the notable stalagmite and stalactite structures in the caves.

Universities and Colleges

Some of the universities and colleges found in the city include:

  • Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (Autonomous University of Nuevo León, UANL)
  • Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Studies)
  • Universidad Regiomontana
  • Universidad de Monterrey
  • Monterrey College of Music and Dance

Relationship

Mexican courtship traditions blend several romantic Old World customs with a few western dating customs. Long ago, a girl's parents met first with potential suitors. When the family deemed a suitor worthy, the village considered the couple engaged. Thus began the courtship, which sometimes lasted four years. Today in Mexico, courtship continues to take time. However, most couples date first and then become engaged. Engagements remain lengthy, but typically only one to two years.

The patriarchal nature of Mexican culture dictates much regarding dating and courtship. For example, a girl's father determines when she is eligible for courtship. For the most part, fathers forbid their daughters to date until their quinceañera. Every 15-year-old girl enjoys a special debut celebration when they reach this notable age.

Holiday Romance

For a foreigner coming into the country and looking for a romantic relationship, there are a few basic principles that will help you on your holiday. You will need to learn beforehand the culture of Mexican as this will make your interaction easier not just with a Mexican girl that you will be spending time with but with her country people.

Mexicans are generally more conservative than many other cultures and so getting a girl to spend your holiday with maybe admittedly hard, especially if you are just going to be with her for the holiday and leave. It will require patience and understanding for you to get a Mexican girl as many of them are uncomfortable with strangers.

Tips for Successful Relationship

Over time, we assume that our partner knows us so well that we don't need to ask for what we want. What happens when we make this assumption? Expectations are set, and just as quickly, they get deflated. Those unmet expectations can leave us questioning the viability of our partnership and connection. Keep in mind that "asking for what you want" extends to everything from emotional to sexual wants.

Create a weekly ritual to check in with each other. This can be short or long, but it begins by asking each other what worked and didn't work about the previous week and what can be done to improve things this coming week. Additionally, use this opportunity to get on the same page with your schedules, plan a date night, and talk about what you would like to see happen in the coming days, weeks, and months in your relationship.

Unless you have committed to an asexual partnership, sex and touch such as kissing, holding hands, and cuddling are vital components of a romantic relationship. How much sex a couple has is, of course, up to the particular pair of individuals, so you must discuss your ideas about it to manage any desire discrepancy.

Life and work distractions can become paramount in our minds, and that leaves little time or energy for our partner. Barring any emergencies or deadlines, we should be fully present when we are with our mate. We truly hear what they are saying (instead of pretending to listen), we leave our distractions behind, and we don't pick them up again until the sun comes up and we walk out the door.

When conflicts inevitably come up, remember to approach them thoughtfully and with a lot of kindness toward your partner and yourself. If you see the stress beginning to escalate during a conversation about a conflict, one or both of you can call a break so that cooler heads can prevail.

Love

Whether it is in Monterrey or anywhere else, the feeling of being in love is something that we all look forward to at a point in our lives. From birth and throughout, we are born with an innate longing to love and to be loved. At times, falling in love may be seen from a distance. However, most times you will never know how things happen but you will find yourself being attracted and later attached to someone who a while back was a stranger. With the many activities that Monterrey has to offer, being in love here is going to be one of the best things ever.

How to Make Sure She Is the One

Falling in love is fun and beautiful and it is something most if not all of us look forward to. Before you settle for her as your girlfriend, you need to look at the bigger picture and ask yourself if she is someone you’d be comfortable growing old with. You may have had to choose her from many options that were before you so you also need to confirm to yourself that you will love her and no one else. As you settle down to get married to her, you need to ask yourself how you will build your future together.

The girl that you plan to marry should be your best friend. A friend is someone you always look forward to spending time with even when there is nothing to do. She will be ready to drop whatever she is doing and be by your side when you need them. She will understand your fears, joys, doubts and will be ready to listen to you even when you don’t have much to say. If your partner is someone you love spending time with then you can rest confident that she’ll be someone you want to commit to.

The girl for you will make you feel safe at all times. When you are in a relationship with someone, you always want to be comfortable knowing that she only has eyes for you Creating safety, connection, and intimacy in a relationship wires our systems to love deeper. If you’re thinking about marrying someone, it’s crucial you feel that this person is going to stick around.

Togo, like many other African countries, is deeply cultural. When you get married to someone, you not only marry them but you are her family and she is joining your family. Before the two of you get married, you need to have this knowledge in mind. Your girl should be willing to join your family as this relationship will play a very big role in your marriage. If your spouse is constantly fighting with your immediate family, this will put a strain on you as you will be called to always support her against your own family. Likewise, you should be ready to marry into her family with its strengths and flaws.

One of the biggest setbacks in a relationship is the lack of improvement. Making yourself better will always help the relationship thrive. Love depends on two people being willing to grow, change, and become better. When you’re willing and committed to becoming a better man for the person you love – it’s a big sign that you could be happy marrying. Love takes work and if you are both interested in improving then you are that much more likely to have a relationship that makes you both happy.

In addition to your families coming together, she will be interacting with your friends as you will be interacting with her friends. Before the two of you got to know each other, you lived separate lives with your circle of friends and acquaintances. While you may not know all of her friends or her all of your friends, there are those close friends of yours that she will be interested to know just as you will get to know her close friends. This support system helps in keeping each other accountable and understanding each other from a third party perspective.

Marriage

The General Law on the Rights of Children and Adolescents 2014 establishes 18 years as the minimum age of marriage, but girls can marry at 14 and boys can marry at 16 with parental consent. However, the age of marriage varies at the state level and is dependent on each state's legislation.

Despite Mexico's popularity as a wedding destination, the marriage process does have some quirks. Foreign nationals might find the marriage application process confusing and bureaucratic. Many requirements may differ from your home country. Official Mexican government processes don't always move quickly, and your best bet is to be well-informed about what you'll need to get married. If you can pair that knowledge with a bit of patience, that's even better. Civil weddings are the only legally recognized weddings in Mexico. Religious weddings and other symbolic blessing ceremonies are possible, but they're not legally recognized without also having a civil component. Most Mexicans have two marriages: the civil (legal) marriage and the religious ceremony afterward.

As of 2015, the legal definition of marriage was changed by Mexico’s Supreme Court to encompass same-sex couples.

During the marriage ceremony, couples will need to have four witnesses, with valid identification, present at the legal ceremony.

You don't have to be a resident of Mexico to get married there. Two foreigners can get married in the country with a passport, tourist visa and minimum amount of paperwork.

However, if you plan to marry a Mexican resident or citizen, you may need to apply for a foreign marriage permit. Certain municipalities will require it, while others have done away with this traditional law. You’ll request a permit from Mexico’s Interior Ministry for the state where you plan to marry.

For your civil ceremony in Mexico, you and your fiancé(e) should expect to provide the following:

  • Marriage application forms, which can be obtained from the local registry office
  • Valid passports, as well as one copy of each person’s passport
  • Birth certificates
  • Your visitor’s permit, obtained at your port of entry or, if you're resident in Mexico, a copy of your resident permit.
  • Divorce Decree / Death Certificate, if applicable
  • Foreign Marriage Permit, if required by your municipality

Every state in Mexico requires a blood test before marriage, and some states also require a chest x-ray. These tests are to detect syphilis and HIV. You'll have to conduct these tests within Mexico, and finding a clinic may be difficult without the help of a Mexican wedding planner. Contacting one at this point in the process is advised.

Wedding

Mexican wedding ceremonies consist of a combination of traditional cultural elements and their Catholic interpretation. According to a study, about 50% of Mexican wedding ceremonies today involve a Catholic mass However, 50 years ago that number was about 88%. And before 1910 the state and the church were not separated, which means that all weddings were celebrated in the Catholic Church. For couples getting married in church:

  • It is common to have the couple present the bridal bouquet to the Virgin Mary after the ceremony in hopes that she will bless the marriage. This tradition is deeply rooted in Mexico's devotion to the Virgin of Guadalupe. For this reason, a secondary bouquet is prepared for the bride to carry after the ceremony, to pose within photos, and later on to throw to the girls.
  • The bride and groom typically kneel on pillows during the wedding mass. A sponsor may gift these pillows. They are placed on the kneelers.
  • Rice, bird seeds, or white confetti is tossed at the couple as they exit the church. This symbolizes prosperity, fertility and good luck. Not entirely religious, but traditional.

Within the larger ceremony, there also occur several smaller ceremonies. These smaller ceremonies are usually included in the church ceremony; however, their origin is completely non-religious so they can very well be used to personalize any kind of wedding ceremony.

During the reception, the guests on the dance floor surround the bride and groom as they enjoy their first dance. The couple then dances with their parents and then with important padrinos and family members. Afterward, the dance floor is open to all!

In this tradition male guests "pay" to dance with the bride, and female guests "pay" to dance with the groom. In reality, it is just an excuse to gift money, the preferred gift by all, to the bride and a groom. Usually, a bill is pinned to the bride's dress or groom's suit and then the well-wisher extends his/her wishes for a prosperous marriage to them as they dance. Given money is expected to be used by the newlyweds for their honeymoon or to set up their home.

Family Life

One’s family is the most important aspect of life for most Mexicans. It is believed that “what God has united cannot be separated by man”. In respect of this, family relationships are typically very close. One’s family tends to have a major influence on the individual, providing a sense of identity, community and support.

There is a general expectation placed upon Mexicans to be loyal and committed to their family by putting the interests of the family above their own. Close-knit family relations provide Mexicans with a network of security and support, particularly in times of need. This is especially relevant to the lower classes as the extended family can be crucial to helping an individual cope with hardships during difficult times. People from this social bracket tend to be more open about their family's problems so that others can aid them in their time of difficulty. Neighbors often play a large role in this way.

The average Mexican household structure varies between social classes. Most households consist of the nuclear family alone, but multi-generational living is still common in both rural and urban areas. In cities, this usually occurs among lower classes due to economic necessity.

Traditionally, couples sought to have as many children as possible following Catholic standards. The Christian proverb says, "you must have as many children as God sends you". However, this has changed in contemporary times, especially in urban areas and among the middle and upper class, as contraception has become more socially acceptable and popular. Today, the standard nuclear family size is between three and five people. As a result of this generational difference, many Mexicans have over a dozen cousins (due to their parents' generation having many siblings) while their children only have a few.
