Dating

Northern Cyprus is a de facto state that comprises the northeastern portion of the island of Cyprus. Recognized only by Turkey, Northern Cyprus is considered by the international community to be part of the Republic of Cyprus. Northern Cyprus extends from the tip of the Karpass Peninsula in the northeast to Morphou Bay, Cape Kormakitis and its westernmost point, the Kokkina exclave in the west. Its southernmost point is the village of Louroujina. A buffer zone under the control of the United Nations stretches between Northern Cyprus and the rest of the island and divides Nicosia, the island's largest city and capital of both sides. Even though Northern Cyprus' population is 99% Islam, the state is officially secular. As a result, the girls are very liberated and do not strictly adhere to Muslim customs such as dating and dressing. The girls are very outgoing and love fun even though they do not engage in such matters as the public display of emotion.

Dating Culture

Most Cypriots date in a way that is similar to the norm of the English-speaking West. Dining out, attending shows and going dancing are common activities. Parents rarely exercise control over their children's choices in partners. However, Cypriots may be expected to marry someone that shares the same language and religion. Young people may also experience pressure from their parents to marry if they have not by the age of 30. The average age of first marriage is 30 for men and 29 for women, though this age tends to be slightly lower in rural areas.

Cypriot Girls (age 18 - 29)

Like girls anywhere else the transition does not only affect their education and residency. As the girls grow out of puberty into adulthood, their bodies also change in preparation for their anticipated motherhood. While puberty sees the breasts appear on their chests, at this age, the breasts grow rounder, bigger and firmer. Turkish girls are known to have big bosoms. Their hips and bums also grow bigger and rounder and more conspicuous in their bodies. Many girls going through puberty develop pimples on their faces which can negatively affect their self-esteem. This changes as the girls approach their twenties. The pimples slowly disappear leaving the girl's face looking beautiful and more mature.

Despite the Islamic culture, the girls rarely dress in conservative Muslim hijabs. Most of them venture out in western clothes such as trousers and skirts. This is only possible in urban areas and tourism centers.

Cypriot Women (age 30 - 45)

Unlike their younger counterparts who dress liberally to attract attention, these women dress less conspicuously. Part of the reasons for this is the fact that some of them are already married and so need to dress appropriately as their status dictates. On the other hand, the one not yet married is restricted by the need to appear mature in their dressing. This, however, is not an absolute rule as many women here dress as liberally as when they were younger. These women are also able to afford better fashion and beauty products and so look pretty.

The women in this age-group are settled in their careers and some of them occupy senior positions in their organizations. This means that they can afford more well-heeled lives and some of them even own various assets such as cars and houses. In addition to career, this stage marks the beginning of family life for most as they have young children with some getting into teenage life. This means that young women are faced with the task of establishing a balance in life between their growing careers, their young families and their social life.

Cypriot Ladies (age 45+)

Even as they grow older, these women can afford the best products and clothes that money can buy and so they continue to look good even though the age may be seen in their faces. Because of their age and for some, position in society, these women wear conservatively as they grow older. By now, the clothes are longer, looser and cover more skin. The amount of cosmetics they use on their face and body also reduces as they do not want to be seen to be doing what the younger generation is doing.

With the law amended to allow women to own property, some women have gone on to establish their own companies and others have gotten well-paying jobs.

This means that even though the country is primarily Islam, the culture is not as strict as the religion. The diverse culture and the nature of the country as a popular tourism center make relationships very enjoyable. Holiday Romance

Holidays provide the best opportunity to meet people from different parts of the world.as mentioned earlier, Northern Cyprus hosts many young beautiful women, many of whom are out to have a good time. Whether you want to get into a holiday romantic relationship with a local girl or a tourist, Northern Cyprus has the best to offer for both. You just need to look for a girl who speaks a language that you can understand as most local girls speak Turkish.

Tips for Successful Relationship

We all long for the perfect relationship straight from a movie where love conquers all and the two of you live together happily ever after. While movies, may exaggerate the ideals of true love, it is possible to have a relationship that makes you smile every time your girl walks into a room. For this to happen, the two of you have to go out of your way and make the relationship work.

Many relations go through a rough patch when the two partners do not get what they want. More often than not, this happens when one does not know what the other person wants. However long we stay with someone or have known them, we should never assume that they know what we need or how we feel. To avoid the situation where your partner is unsure of what you want or why you are frowning, you should tell them if you need them to do something for you.

Biologically and emotionally, men and women are wired differently. Each sex has its generic traits that define them. While women are generally bound to open up on their emotions and feelings, men do not easily open up to others or show emotion. This however does not indicate a lack of emotion. As the two of you get into a relationship, you need to understand this and know how to treat each other's feelings.

Even as men and women are separated by their gender, any two people, even if they are of gender, are different. Coming from different backgrounds and having gone through different upbringings, the two of you will have differences in thought and how you react to external influences. The two of you must try as much as possible to learn about each other and also be tolerant of the shortcoming of each other.

Love

Cypriot men are very polite, will open doors in front of women, help them into coats and do all other similar things. A man should never allow a girl to carry anything heavier than a tiny purse and will always pick up a bill at a restaurant. This is expected in all cases even well into the relationship, so do not be surprised that the girl will not even offer to share. And if you offer to share do not be surprised if you never see her again. Not because the only thing she wanted from you was a free dinner, but because that is against the cultural norm.

How to Make Sure She Is the One

Even as we seek for the right lady to date, we all have our preferences in terms of who the right person for us is. Some of these qualities may be generic but some of them are unique to our taste.

You should find someone with whom you can sustain a conversation. However beautiful a girl can be, her looks will count very little once the two of you settle down together in your marital home. The two of you should be able to hold all manners of conversation together both serious stuff and humor.

A good woman will not only be kind and courteous to you but others around you. They say that how someone treats a waiter in a hotel brings out their real character. If she is kind to such people, she is the one.

In life, we all have personal ambitions that we seek. As the two of you come together, she should have realistic ambitions for her growth even as the two of you seek to grow together.

Even as we are busy in life developing ourselves, another way to know if she is the one for you is if she is willing to sacrifice time and effort to spend time with you. If she is continually busy with little or no time to spare now, she will not have time when you are married.

Marriage

As the law in Northern Cyprus is based primarily on English law it makes the marriage process much simpler to follow and understand as well as meaning that wedding services and marriage documents are all in English. Certain legal requirements have to be fulfilled for a wedding to take place which include the bride and groom having to stay in TRNC for at least 6 days before their wedding, providing copies of passports and birth certificates, a form completed for submission to the District Officer and a decree absolute if previously married and subsequently divorced.

There is also a requirement for the bride and groom to have a declaration signed and authorized by a local Notary which confirms each party's status as single and able to marry.

Once all that has been completed and you have your authorization to wed then you just need to ensure that the ceremony takes place within three months of the authorization date.

Wedding

As earlier mentioned, the Cypriots in Northern Cyprus belong to two major origins. Both Greek and Turkish Cypriots have very similar receptions with small variations. They both enter the reception together and walk around the venue three times to claps from the guests.

The Greek Cypriots do the walk to violin music, while Turkish Cypriots walk to drums.

Many weddings here have a traditional dance where guests pin money on the bride and groom, which is called 'the mortgage dance'. It's in place of gifts being bought for the wedding couple and it's supposed to help them start their life.

An important part of the wedding is dancing. Folk dances reflect all details of the Cypriot lifestyle. The dances, that are choreographed with the motifs of typical behaviors and traditional occasions, typically focus on notable events.

Weddings in North Cyprus are huge family events. Aunts, uncles and cousins join in the wedding preparations to ensure that the couple has the best day possible. The extended family usually provides the couple with a furnished place to live in. This tradition in Cyprus enables a young couple to enter married life without any major worries. Parents are frequent visitors at their children’s homes and usually continue to provide financial and emotional support.

Family Life

The family unit is the most important foundation of Cypriot society, providing emotional and economic support to the individual. Cypriots tend to think of their extended family as immediate family. For example, one may be as close to their cousin as they are with their sibling. Relatives try to live within proximity to one another. They are usually the basis for each other's social circles. Extended families are generally very large. It is common for members of the older generation to have ten siblings or even more, each of which often has children of their own. While it is now the common preference to have around two to four children, many Cypriots have dozens of cousins, aunts and uncles.

Age gives authority in Cypriot families and society at large. The elderly are traditionally given the utmost respect and are consulted when any major decision is made. Many observe that the younger generation of Cypriots is becoming more individualistic. Nevertheless, Cypriot parents continue to hold a lot of influence over their children’s decisions throughout their lives. Grandparents are often deeply devoted to the family. They may help to raise children and also play a role in organizing family events and keeping the extended family together and involved with one another. Among expatriate Cypriots, the older generation tends to become responsible for keeping younger family members educated in their language, culture and religion.
